Mock trial teams continue run

The Glenwood Springs High School mock trial teams have set themselves up for a fourth consecutive state mock trial championship with a one-two finish at regionals in Grand Junction last week.


In a cliffhanger, the top two of three Glenwood teams faced each other undefeated in the final round. Both teams were nearly flawless, but the more experienced first team edged out the second team in the end. The teams are looking ahead to the state competition in Boulder on March 12 and 13, where Glenwood has won the state mock trial championship the past three years.


Those same years Glenwood placed third, second, and fifth in the nation.The first team: Abri Yawa, Sarah Lewis, Graham Jackson, Zac Parsons, Zack Hallford, Scott Straus, Dylan Walters, Anna Hakanson and Angie Vichick; coach: Ruben Hernandez.

The second team: Anna Triebel, Mallerie Neal, Anders Rosen, Brendan Cochran, Connor Jackson, Angus Bohanon, Kerry Rippy and Dante Chavez. Coaches led by Judge Victor Zerbi. The third team: Hannah Saliman, Amber Frye, Tony Mattivi, Kara Gibson, Nadya Arana, Alec Damon, Erin Anderson, Daniel Trejo and Iris Apodaca. Coached by James Fosnaught.
